Help / Community
The studio owner community
The community (Community in the sidebar, under Learn) is where studio owners and their teams help each other. Dance, martial arts, gymnastics, cheer, swim, music, theater, and sports studios all read and answer here, so whatever you're stuck on, someone has probably been there.
What it is
Two kinds of posts:
- Questions: something you need help with. Others answer, and you accept the answer that helped most.
- Discussions: share what worked, ask for opinions, or start a conversation with no single right answer.
Everything sits in a category: marketing, enrollment, retention, events, camps, staffing, parent communication, social media, pricing, operations, recitals, competitions, martial arts, gymnastics, music, swim, studioHYPE, and general. The studioHYPE team starts every category with a question to get things going, and pins a welcome post and an introductions thread.
Every couple of days the studioHYPE team starts a new conversation, written with AI and checked by the team, so you'll see a Written with AI tag on those. The studioHYPE category is where we ask what you'd like studioHYPE to do and try out ideas. We read every reply. And if your question goes a day without an answer, we'll answer it ourselves. It stays on Unanswered so other owners can still add what's worked for them.
Asking a question
- Choose Ask a question (or Start a discussion) at the top of the community.
- Write a specific title. As you type, Already asked? shows threads like it, in case someone answered it already.
- Pick the closest category, and add details: your kind of studio, its size, what you've tried, and what you're hoping for.
- Optionally add photos or a PDF (a flyer, a schedule, a screenshot), or share one of your library's resources.
Details use simple formatting: **bold**, *italic*, lists that start with -, and links. Choose Preview to see it before you post. You can edit or remove your own posts any time; edits after the first few minutes show "edited".
Answering and commenting
- Answers are the main replies. Specifics help most: what you did, the numbers, and what you'd do differently. Answers can have photos and PDFs too.
- A thread reads like a conversation: the post on top, answers under it, and the reply box at the bottom.
- Comments are quick notes under an answer: choose Reply under it to ask for more detail or follow up.
- The Unanswered tab, and Can you help? beside the list, show questions from studios like yours that no other studio has answered yet.
Helpful and accepted answers
Tap Helpful on any answer (or Good question on a question) that helped you. Answers with the most helpful votes rise to the top. When you asked the question, choose Accept this answer on the one that solved it: it's pinned first, the thread shows as answered, and the person who wrote it hears about it.
Finding things
- Latest: newest activity first, with pinned posts on top. Top: the most helpful this week, month, year, or ever. Following and Mine: your threads.
- Open a category from the side, and filter any list by kind of studio or by questions and discussions.
- Search looks through every title, post, and answer, and marks where your words matched. Filter results by category, answered or not, and kind of studio.
Following and notifications
You follow your own threads and the ones you answer or comment on. Choose Follow on any thread to hear about new answers too, and Following to stop. Threads with something new since you last looked show a dot, and the sidebar counts them.
You get a notification (and an email, unless you turn it off) for answers and comments on your threads, answers in threads you follow, comments on your answers, an answer of yours being accepted, and another studio saving a resource you shared. The weekly digest (Monday mornings: questions you could help with, the week's top threads, and what's new where you follow) is off until you turn it on in Settings → Notifications.
Sharing a resource
When you ask or start a discussion, you can attach one of your studio's own resources: an event or annual checklist, a lesson plan, a social calendar, a marketing plan, or a promotion idea. A copy goes with the post, so later changes in your library don't change it. Other studios see what's in it and can choose Save to our library to get their own copy to change. You can also choose Share in the community from your resource's page.
How you appear
Your name shows as your first name and last initial, with your kind of studio and your state. In Settings → Community you can choose a different name, show your studio's name, and add a line about yourself. Your email and your studio's records (families, leads, numbers) are never shared. Your community profile shows your threads, answers, and how many were accepted.
Keeping it a good place
- Read the community guidelines: be kind, keep families private, no selling, stay on topic. You agree to them once, before your first post.
- Use Report on anything that breaks them. The studioHYPE team reviews every report; anything reported by three different studios is hidden until the team looks.
- New posts get a quick automatic check. Anything it flags waits for the team before others see it (you'll get a notification when it's live).
- The team can remove posts (the author is told why), close a thread to new answers, and pause someone's posting.
Your studio's settings
By default everyone on your team can read and post. Owners and Admins can change that in Settings → Community: everyone, Owners and Admins only, read only, or turned off (hidden from the team). They can also turn posting off for one person, who can still read.
